Forget the usual Friday night pizza—this weekend, I'm diving headfirst into the decadent world of steak. And not just any steak, mind you. We're talking about a steak rave, a celebration of perfectly seared, juicy, flavourful cuts of meat.

The Star of the Show: The Ribeye

This isn't about skimping. My steak rave centers around the ribeye, a cut known for its rich marbling and intense flavour. The marbling, that beautiful intermingling of fat and lean meat, is key. It's what makes the ribeye so incredibly tender and juicy. We're talking melt-in-your-mouth goodness.

Preparation is Key

While a perfectly cooked ribeye is undeniably delicious, achieving that perfection takes a bit of know-how. My secret? Dry-brining. This simple technique involves generously seasoning the steak with salt and pepper (and maybe a touch of garlic powder) at least 4 hours, and preferably overnight, before cooking. This allows the salt to draw out moisture, which then reabsorbs, resulting in a more flavorful and tender steak.

Cooking Methods: A Delicious Debate

The age-old question: pan-seared, grilled, or broiled? Each method offers a unique flavour profile. For my rave, I'm opting for a reverse sear. This involves slow-cooking the steak in the oven to a near-perfect internal temperature, followed by a quick sear in a hot pan to achieve a beautiful crust.
