History of Nebraska Volleyball

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has a rich tradition of excellence in volleyball, with a history that spans over four decades. The program was established in 1975 and has since become one of the most successful programs in the country.

Early Years

In the early years, the Huskers struggled to find their footing, but with the arrival of coach Terry Pettit in 1977, the program began to take shape. Pettit led the team to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 1982 and went on to win three national championships in 1994, 1995, and 1997.

Modern Era

In 2000, coach John Cook took the reins of the program and has since led the Huskers to unprecedented success. Under Cook's guidance, the team has won three national championships in 2006, 2015, and 2017. The program has also produced numerous All-Americans, conference champions, and NCAA Tournament appearances.
