The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's volleyball program has a rich history of producing talented athletes, and one of the most iconic numbers in the program's history is the number 27 jersey. Worn by some of the most exceptional players to ever don the scarlet and cream, the number 27 has become synonymous with excellence and dominance on the court.

A Tradition of Greatness

The first player to make the number 27 jersey famous was Sarah Pavan, a dominant outside hitter who played for the Huskers from 2004 to 2007. During her time at Nebraska, Pavan led the team to two NCAA Championship appearances, earning All-American honors twice and setting multiple school records.

However, it was Jordan Larson, who played from 2005 to 2008, that truly cemented the number 27's place in Nebraska volleyball lore. A three-time First-Team All-American, Larson was a key member of the Huskers' 2006 National Championship team, earning Most Outstanding Player honors in the process. Her impressive career statistics, including over 1,600 kills and 1,000 digs, remain among the best in program history.

Continuing the Legacy

In recent years, Mikaela Foecke has carried on the tradition of excellence associated with the number 27 jersey. A three-time All-American and two-time Big Ten Player of the Year, Foecke led the Huskers to two NCAA Championship appearances, including a National Championship in 2017. Her impressive career statistics, including over 1,500 kills and 1,000 digs, place her among the all-time greats in Nebraska volleyball history.
